Quiet Elevator Solution

Transparent Glass Elevator

Elevator Safety, Comfort and Silence Are Essential

For villa interiors, we often envision transparent elevators in the center of the lobby, allowing natural light to flow through—just like panoramic elevators. To meet this design requirement, I strongly recommend ‌roller guide shoes‌ for the following advantages:

  1. Noise & Durability Solved

Rolling friction replaces sliding friction, significantly reducing operational noise while enhancing longevity.

  1. Oil-Free Maintenance

With roller guide shoes, elevator tracks no longer require lubrication, eliminating oil stains and keeping the elevator clean and visually appealing.

This technology ensures both aesthetic elegance and functional excellence.

‌Elevator Guide Shoe Function

Installed between the elevator car and guide rails, guide shoes serve two critical purposes:

  1. Directional Stabilization‌ – Prevents lateral movement during operation
  2. Impact Absorption‌ – Dampens vibrations and shock loads

(Note: This version maintains technical accuracy while improving readability for international clients. The bullet-point format enhances scanability in technical documentation.)

In modern elevator systems, elevator guide shoes play a critical role in ensuring smooth vertical movement.Roller guides represent a significant technological advancement, particularly suited for modern high-rise buildings and energy-efficient elevator systems. Their superior performance in friction reduction, noise control, and maintenance requirements makes them the preferred choice for new installations and modernization projects, despite higher upfront costs.

  1. Friction Reduction

30-40% energy savings in elevator operation;

Reduced wear on guide rails (extending rail lifespan by 5-8 years);

Elimination of lubrication requirements;

  1. Noise Performance

Laboratory tests show roller guides operate at 45-52 dB, versus 60-68 dB for sliding systems. The rolling contact mechanism:

Minimizes vibration transmission

Reduces noise propagation through building structures

Enhances passenger comfort, especially in high-speed elevators (>2.5 m/s)

  1. Maintenance Requirements

Roller guides demonstrate superior maintenance characteristics:

No periodic lubrication needed (vs. quarterly lubrication for sliding types)

Bearing replacement intervals of 5-7 years (compared to annual shoe replacement)

Simplified inspection procedures using wear indicators

  1. Performance at High Speeds

For elevators exceeding 2.0 m/s, roller guides provide distinct advantages:

Stable operation up to 10 m/s (sliding guides limited to 4 m/s)

Reduced “stick-slip” phenomenon during acceleration/deceleration

Better dynamic response to building sway in tall structures

  1. Economic Considerations

While roller guides have 20-30% higher initial cost, lifecycle analysis reveals:

Payback period of 2-3 years through energy savings

40-50% lower maintenance costs over 10 years

Reduced downtime increases building operational efficiency

Ginotek High Speed Elevator 10m/s Solution

Roller size: Roller diameter needs to match the elevator speed.

For example, at a rated speed of 10m/s, the diameter of the car guide shoe roller is 300mm.

Material and process:

  • Rubber: which have high wear resistance and corrosion resistance characteristics.
  • Spring buffer: the roller should be equipped with a spring buffer system to absorb the impact of the guide rail joint (adapting to a deviation of 0.2-0.5mm).

Contact standard:

The width of the scar on the contact surface between the roller and the guide rail should be ≥ 80% of the roller width to ensure uniform force distribution.

Key points for rail adaptation and installation

The inner width of the guide shoe must be accurately matched with the size of the guide rail , otherwise it may cause the elevator car to shake or run unstably. During installation, it is necessary to ensure that the guide shoes are absolutely vertical and the safety jaws are aligned at three points to avoid gaps exceeding the standard (safety threshold is ≤ 2mm).
